Opinion Essay - Marc Matute

Opinion Essay

We try to get fun, that’s a fact, but we have to be careful with what. Seeing TV, which a lot of people do, it’s a valid option, but in the TV we can find a lot programmes with a lot of theme variation. Violence (or action) is one which a lot of teenegers see, and this I think is the problem of violence in society nowadays.

In my point of view, we try to replicate what we think is fun, especially teenegers, for example: who never seen a child or a teenager playing to be military? I normally do, in fact, I normally did it in my childhood.

To emphasize, not all of violence in society is caused by this, but a large part of it yes. TV is one of the most influential devices in the modern ages, so, what would happen if TV was only violence-based programmes? We would life in the total anarchy: vandalism in all streets, shoplifting, damage to all public properties… Moreover, in the past centuries when the television did not exist, we were living in a peaceful world, but when TV was invented, occurred the world wars.

To conclude, I think that a possibility to borrow violence in our society can be stop recording violence-based TV programmes but, in the other hand, it will be impossible because we will have an intense argument with what is violence and what’s not, but I really think it is necessary for people to know that there is a lot of violence in our society caused by watching violence on television. Until then, if anything changes, my dreams to life in a peaceful world will be extinct.
