If Teenagers see violence in television will they become more violent?
Nowadays we see a lot of series every day, that’s a fact, but we must be careful with that. Seeing TV or series, which many people do, it’s a good distraction, but on TV, we can find a bunch of programmes with adult content. Violence is present in many programmes which young people see.
In my opinion I totally disagree about the beliefs that nowadays the violence is increasing when more aggressive acts are shown on television. But there are some other people who claim the opposite.
First of all, teenagers are more interested in see other platforms instead of TV, for example a teen now prefers see Netflix series instead of seeing Tv series. Moreover, if Netflix or any other platform keeps uploading series with violence, the problem will just move to another place and not be solved. In addition, the series that are on air now treat genders very variated, not all the series contain violence. For example, if we search the most viewed series, we can see dramatic situations or romantic scenes, too.
In fact, the violence can be suppressed if the family takes cares of it. An example of that can be a child hitting a dog because it is recreating a scene he has seen previously on TV, there the family acts immediately and corrects the behaviour of the child, he wouldn’t do another time.
Last but not least, some people when are playing videogames or watching some series about fighting come to think that they are living in another world, and act like the characters they saw. However, if this brings a punishment, they will not do it.
To conclude, I believe that the violence doesn’t come only for the Tv, there are some other things like the family influence or the friends who play an important role. The attitude of a person not only comes from what he sees, if not from what the person lives and experiences.
