It is often said that TV violence increases violence, but how can be that demonstrated? Actually, almost anybody knows how does it affect or the degree of influence that television has on their kids and teenagers, but it seems that it is not worth it, since anybody is interested in it.
Nowadays, the majority of TV programmes are quite violent and that means that young people who consume such programs can become "immune" to the horror of violence. They can use violence as a way of solving problems, imitate the violence they see on television. Considering that, we can absolutely say that young people can be strongly affected and influenced by the content they see on television. If violence were prohibited in TV programmes and serires, the level of violence would decrease brusquely.
As far as I'm concerned, everything can affect children and young people and the consumption of violence both on television and in video games does not help to reduce the number of aggressions, which is currently very high. However, I do not think television is responsible of youth violence either, since most violent images reflect some reality, so I think the best solution would be fixing those problems first.
To sum up, TV content is a contributor to the use of violence by teenageers, but it is not the main cause. There are other factors such, as addiction to drugs, which could drive the consumer into violence actions. So, if we solved that kind of problems, there would be less violence than restricting TV programmes.
