Film Review - Marc Matute

“Nosedive” is the first episode of the 3rd season of “Black Mirror” series. Black Mirror is a british dystopian science-fiction serie created by Charlie Brooker and directed by Joe Wright. In this first episode our star is Bracy Dallas Howard playing the role of “Lacie”.

The story is based on the history of Lacie, living in a dystopian world where you can be qualified by other people with 1 to 5 stars, the more stars you have, the higher social status you will have, so if you have a good rating, your live is better. In her's first days she has a good rating and want to rent an apartment, but she has to be rated better in order to have it. Later, her old friend, with a high social status, invited her to her wedding. It’s just perfect! Lacie can do good-rated friends and rent the apartament of her dreams, but some unfortunate things are going to destroy her dream and his rating…

The most enjoyable thing in this episode it’s the background, because nowadays a lot of people are going to be recognized with this attitude. I’m talking about considering people as a number or rating, because if this goes on and happens something like this, social networks will have all the power in their hands and this can be terrifying. The plot it’s very interesting and the role of Lacie is brilliantly performed.

The negative thing is that currently Black Mirror has six seasons and it can be difficult see all of them, and about this episode, I think that it doesn’t have any negative points.

If “Nosedive” were a film, I think that it would be a Blockbuster for a while, because this episode holds the spectator’s attention until the end and this is what makes an episode or a film a masterpiece and that’s why I recommend it.
